Me and China

By Gyorgy, HU

China UNlimited___In December 1990 I had the privilege to visit Far East spending a few days in China. I cannot express how impressed I was while having the chance walking on the Big Wall stopping at the Ming Tombs on the way or to see the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.

The 5000 years of History was all around and even coming from Europe the view of the precious buildings and the people around shifted my proud view on European history to appreciation and towards interest to learn more and more about this beautiful country.

This initial impression led to a decision – when we had to find the right education – for my younger son to join the Hungarian – Chinese bilingual school and to give him the opportunity to learn a language which is even more difficult than Hungarian. On top of the language the other benefit of this environment, he is starting to recognise another culture too. He is progressing really well starting the third grade in the coming September.

With the school and some chinese friends we have developed a good relationship and used to celebrate together Chinese holiday like the Lunar New Year. Our little one now nicely singing the song of Gong Xi Gong Xi together with his Chinese friends.

Our family was always a great friend of Chinese cousine but started to appreciate the taste even more when our friends introduced to us the home made soups and dim sum bites. Now in case of any sickness we used to consult with Qiao Wen – the head teacher of Jin Qiao language school helping our son in his learning and also helping us to learn more about traditional chinese approach to health and balanced life together.

Our family and myself feeling really lucky that the Chinese culture and mindset bacame integrated part of our life.
