The whole world is shocked by the return of The Donald in the world’s most important job. Why?
Denialism, the tendency to deny the truth, is a well known syndrom of the human kind. The sane deny that there are insane out there in order to live their bubble life as if short unpredictable life can get into bubbles.
In the same way, people believed that America cannot be governed by the Trump campaign promulgating lies, fear, stupidity, fascism et al. Moreover, some great US Anchormen/women rushed to fall into further denialism by saying that it is not possible that great American people voted for Trump because they are fascists but because the inflation at the supermarket bites hard.
Denialism is everywhere in human behaviour and political behaviour and so on and so forth. But let’s face it; it is what it is like they say in America. Trump won by a great majority simply because a great majority in the US (and the whole world) align with that extravaganza character. It is not about what he says obviously, as he has said the worst and still won by a lot, despite all his handsome criminal charges etc.. It is about people being allured by this Orange personality with the red glossy tie that captivates their attention pretty much the way the fish at night stop to stare at the light torch moments before they are caught by the fisher.
Although a first year political science student would say that Trump won because of the highly perceived correlation of the Republican party with a good economy for generations, a psychogist would argue that Trump won by a reflex. It is the same reflex that makes millions in the US post on Instagram a story with a nice Michelin meal that they haven’t paid for, their new supercar that they haven’t bought but leased for half a day to make a story with it, a fake Rolex, a luxurious holiday in Dubai they have somehow won, their new hair, their super tight pants that infer nudity, the voluptuous implant breasts or new threatening long nails and so on and so forth.
This is how more than half of the electorate in the US voted last Tuesday, as a reflex. A reflex to flex their “superiority” from the others resulting in their being so very different, being outliers. It is an insult for outliers in statistics to say that more than half of the electorate look like them, but at least this is how those people feel, that they are distinctly different from the universe and they have to show that with their vote. And of course it is the MAGA figure that can make you feel that, in the same way that large implant breasts beg for differentiation. It is not Kamala.
In Psychology there is affect and there is reason. Obviously the electorate voted 100% out of affect, emotionally stimulated by the “Garbage Man” or the “fake McDonald’s employee” etc. It was definitely not a cognitive effort this vote. And if for some it was, then they owe it to themselves and their loved ones to seek help.
The most bizarre thing about it is that they all feel vindicated from day one because the stock markets went up and so on. And of course the stock markets will always do that because they love opportunist hypes, creating wealth out of “fugazis”.
Some say that Trump is Hitler. No he is not. Adolf took advantage of the despair of the utterly poor Germans to reign and slaughter millions. Donald on the other hand took advantage of people’s utter liberation of arrogance and stupidity who claim their biggest achievement in life to be the fact that they can walk and chew gum simultaneously.
To cut a long story short, the inductive syllogism of the day follows. The social media brought freedom and power to all to say it all. Most people prefer affect from reason simply because it requires less effort. Thus, The Donalds will tend to win in our times because political behaviour is ruled by emotions and not cognitive processing as it should.
Everything is the same, voting and going out, same. Democracy was conceived specifically, it evolved differently and now it is synonymous to #MAGA and #TOHELLWITHTHEWORLD.
Too subtle?
