Q: The Spokesperson of the European External Action Service (EEAS) released a statement on April 1, 2025 about China’s military drills around Taiwan. What is your comment?
A: Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory. The Taiwan question is purely China’s internal affair that brooks no external interference. What undermines the peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is the separatist activities of “Taiwan independence” forces and the external forces that abet and aid them. China’s joint exercises are a stern warning and an act of containment against “Taiwan independence” separatist forces, and a legitimate and necessary move to defend national sovereignty and uphold national unity. We express strong dissatisfaction with and firm opposition to the EU’s statement that interferes with China’s internal affairs. We urge the EU side to honor its political commitments to China, earnestly abide by the one-China principle and refrain from sending any wrong signal to “Taiwan independence” separatist forces.
