Russia and the West use the same tactics to dismember Ukraine

Štefan Füle, Member of the European Commission in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, President of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) (on the left), and Volodymyr Hroisman, Ukrainian Vice-Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services (on the right), gave a joint press conference following the plenary session of the Committee of the Regions on Ukraine. The way the Ukrainian minister looks, could mean that one cannot be a minister in this country if one doesn’t look like a fighter. (EC Audiovisual Services 02/04/2014).

It’s amazing how much distanced from reality the EU’s foreign policy must be, under the permanent Council Presidency of Lady Catherine Ashton. There is no other explanation than this, if one takes seriously the agenda of yesterday’s EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg, under the chair of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Libya, Syria, Ukraine and Bosnia – Herzegovina all those four troubled countries were yesterday massively present on the FAC’s agenda, arranged by Ashton. How could she forget that in all those cases the EU foreign policy led to a complete catastrophe?

As if the complete failure of EU’s policies on Ukraine, now leading the poor country directly to a civil war, were not enough, Ashton also wanted to remind us all of the catastrophic results the EU interference had caused in all four cases. How can one explain that she decided to squeeze all the four tragedies of Ukraine, Libya, Syria and Bosnia & Herzegovina in the agenda? Is she a moron or she has forgotten what happened in Libya and Syria some years ago, in Bosnia – Herzegovina in the last century, and now in Ukraine? Still, she inserted all the four deeply divided countries in the Council’s agenda.

Libya and Syria

Seemingly, the Lady is completely distanced from reality unless she takes seriously the distorted image reported in all those cases by generously subsidized media and other ‘intelligent’ sources. Who can deny that Libya and Syria, after years of bloody confrontations and unspeakable butchery, have ended up in complete chaos and live under the reign of warlords? Their Peoples are at the mercy of armed gangs of every possible inclination.

In the case of Libya, the West, and primarily the European Union, knew perfectly well that by destroying the Gaddafi murderous regime, the country was to end up in complete destruction and chaos. Still, Britain and France decided to bomb Gaddafi away, without the slightest remorse or plan for the next day. The very same reason for which the UN authorized the bombing, ostensibly to save the Libyans from tyranny and murder, proved to be the end result of the Franco-British military action. The whole affair led to the complete destruction of Libya as a country and the Libyan society or whatever was left of it. All that happened under the neutral vote of Russia in UN’s Security Council.

Exactly the same is true for Syria, as far as the destruction is concerned. Only in this case, the main culpable party was the US and not the EU, with Russia following a completely aggressive stance supporting its local ‘representative’ Bashar al-Assad. Coming to Bosnia – Herzegovina, it was the turn of Germany to undertake the unholy task of dismembering Yugoslavia, starting from the Sarajevo market provocation. The then German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher has already publicly repented for his destructive role.
Ukraine in the hands of ‘protestors’

Focusing on Ukraine

Understandably, the last EU Foreign Affairs Council was almost exclusively focused on Ukraine. According to the Press release issued afterwards, the main results of the Council were the following, “The Council condemned actions undertaken by armed individuals in cities of Eastern Ukraine. These attempts at destabilising Ukraine must come to an end. The Council also decided to expand the list of those subject to asset freeze and visa ban”.

Starting from the last sentence, the Council couldn’t avoid showing its complete inability to stop the well-armed pro-Russian ‘protestors’ from assaulting and occupying crucial government buildings in Eastern Ukrainian cities. “Expanding the list of those subject to asset freeze and visa ban” is like threatening an army with a kids’ toy. On top of that, the above excerpt reveals that what Russia is now doing in the east of the country is exactly the same with what the West did in Kiev. The world hasn’t forgotten how the present interim government and President of Ukraine were appointed in their offices. It was very similarly hooded and armed ‘protestors’ who chased away the pervious President of the country Victor Yanukovych and appointed the new guys. Reportedly, the only difference between the two sides of hooded gangs is the source of their wages. People like that believe only in cash money.

Common knowledge

Despite that, the above is common knowledge, “The Council condemned actions undertaken by armed individuals in cities of Eastern Ukraine”. It’s unbelievable that 28 EU Foreign Ministers take it for granted that ordinary people all over the world are stupid enough, not to see the similarity between the tactics followed by the West and Russia in moving their pawns in Ukraine. It is as if the two sides have agreed to the kind of tactics. The problem is that obviously the West and Russia don’t mind about what the vast majority of the Ukrainian people may endure, if the various gangs of armed ‘protestors’ start a real fight.

The answer is that neither Russia nor the West in view of securing their gains, don’t give a damn about the lives of millions of ordinary Ukrainians, as it was the case in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia & Herzegovina, in Syria and in Libya.
